I believe this egg is made of porcelain. It measures 4.5" x 3". There is an artists signature on the inside of the lid - pictured & a mark on the bottom of the piece. Any information on this piece is helpful! Thank you.

Why do you think it is Russian?

I have a vase with the same mark.
Went to a Garage sale, where things were marked very low, lots of people. I looked at the vase, thought Bing and Grondahl grabbed it and kept moving. Wasn't till I got home and saw the mark that I realized it wasn't B&G.

Haven't been able to find the mark either.

I looked up fake sevres marks and found one that looks like your labeled Lichte. But I'm being nagged to go to bed so will have to let someone else take it from here.

Me too. I came up with a fake Sevres mark with a candle in the middle as a Lichte mark.

On the following page scroll nearly to the bottom of the page or 2nd up from the bottom.

[IMG]Lichte (Germany – Thuringia) Founded in 1822 by: Johann Heinrich Leder
    Used: 1824-1840

The Lichte mark shown was used while the brothers Wilhelm and Heinrich Liebmann controlled the factory. In 1840 the factory was taken over by Christoph and Phillip Heubach, who introduced other marks.

Have had a very long day. Started off with very foggy allergy brain, and went down from there.

So I may not be deducing everything correctly. What I have found is that the company was founded in 1820s by Leder. Was taken over by Heubach bros.

Found one item that a guest gave the date as being 1900-1945.
The mark is similar, but not the same as the one shown above by Studio Antiques. The mark on my vase and the painting on my vase are the same as posted above.
Judging from my vase, the style of painting, I tend to think that this dates from 1950s to possibly 1980s. The style is very similar to what Bing and Grondahl were doing at the time.

    Will check back tomorrow.

I am leaning towards an earlier date. For one thing it does not list a country of origin. And the decoration reminds me of winter depictions in 19th century French art glass. Another thought is that perhaps Heubach continued to use the Lichte mark for a time after taking over the company or that someone else stole the mark.
