I have 2 rings that im stuck on,
One looks like black stone surrounded by little diamonds, no hallmarks apart from a stamp saying "18ct" ive noticed that outside in sunlight the black stone is dark blue so im confused ive tested stones on that bleep pen contraption & it bleeped as real,
The 2nd has no hallmark at all, tiny pearls but not sure if there was stone in middle or not, the gold lookes darker than normal 9ct but it not magnetic & acid says its gold, anyone know why some things didnt get hallmarks??

I can't see much from here. Are you sure the one with the dark stone doesn't say 18Ct HGE? The marks in your photos aren't legible, and generally a stone that dark doesn't land in a high karat setting if it's legit. It's probably a sapphire surrounded by white sapphires, but it's hard to say from what I can see. The other one ... dunno.

    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

The one on the left is a Georgian era ring with natural seedpearls, missing the central glass which covered either a braided hair piece or a lover's eye miniature!:)
Can't help more with the other ring except it seems to have white sapphires around the dark blue sapphire. :cyclops:

    Gorgeous rings, Alfa.
I agree with kyra that the ring on the left looks like a Georgian era ring. Given the construction of the shank I would say later on in the Georgian era. I don't think I have ever seen UK Georgian jewellery that was marked, maybe it had to do with weight.

I've never seen marked Georgian jewellery. For that matter, much Victorian and up until about WW2 isn't either. The one that says 18ct is one of ours, probably between the two wars, which is when that mark was common.

    What @evelyb30 said.
The stones in that sapphire ring are probably not diamonds. The darkness in the middle of each stone, as seen in your photo, tells me that they are synthetic or something else, not diamond.
Please post a better photo of the mark.
Could it say 18k HGE? That would mean plated 18k
It looks like a low quality sapphire. If it was solid 18k I would expect a much better stone.

Unless it was made during the War rather than before, and they were using what they had handy.... That happened here in the US often enough. Lots of WWII costume was made of sterling, because silver is mined here and it wasn't "war material" like copper, brass, lead, etc. The setting does look legit from here, but...?

HGE wasn't a term here, so if it says 18ct, it won't say HGE.

And now it is your forum name too. Alfa for short.:)
Ownedbybear spoke of 'one of ours', meaning British. I thought you were in the UK too, so I said "I think Alfa is one of yours too.";)
