    Hello.
I picked this up in a local thrift shop a few months ago. I have it sitting on a table and I get so many compliments and questions asked about it I thought I'd look here for possible answers.

It's a heavy glass bowl - just over 7 inched wide at the mouth - with a what looks to be brass base. The base is just over 5 inches across. The piece is just over 7 inches high.
On the underside of the base there's stamps on each leg.....two of the legs have what looks like stars, one has a 5 or 6 digit number (see photo) and one has an L or 1.

I'm trying to find out the maker if possible and where it was made and what year....roughly.

    Can't help with the maker.
Not brass, pot metal with brass finish.
    1970s.

Some was made here, some was imported from Italy.
Appears to be a cut crystal bowl. I would suspect European.

    It is lovely.

    Thank you clutteredcloset49.
Is there somewhere online where I could go to get some more in-depth information? I'm thinking about the marks under the feet....the stars, the L or 1 and in particular the 5 or 6 digit number stamped there. I don't mind digging around - that's 1/2 the fun for me.....it just is a little easier if - for instance - people here have been through this and may be able to point me in a direction.

Thanks again - your information is most helpful.

If there is I don't know it.

More than likely who ever marketed your item, ordered the glass from one company and the metal from another. Put the two together and sold it under their name.

As I said the glass could be European, and the metal could be from anywhere, including the US.

As you can see there were quite a wide variety made.
They use the term Hollywood Regency, although I'm not sure what time period that is supposed to cover.

These bowls are mostly from the 1970s.
Because yours is a nicer cut glass, the glass may have been made in West Germany.
I sold a lamp not too long ago that still had a West German sticker on it.
