Google shows me that vase in a search for Plasto porcelain, but when I click on it, I'm taken back to the auction for what I'm calling the Andromeda vase, so at present I'm not sure it is actually Plasto. It reminds me also of this work by Meissen, which I know @bluumz will enjoy:

Is it possible for bluumz to post a link to that auction? I tried a reverse image search and google search and nothing. This is so frustrating, one likes to think I can access everything at the push of a button but so often there's some catch to it.

I'm sure she'll give it a go when she gets the opportunity. She has only recently returned to her job as a respiratory therapist after recovering from Covid-19 herself.

A new wrinkle. Looks like this has only just been put up:

    https://veryimportantlot.com/en/lot/view/vase-mit-nymphe-321777

Vase with nymph Pietzner & co., Plast flexographic society, Vienna, around 1900, porcelain, gray, blue under glaze painting. Strong, structured, and white glazed decor: nymph. Moving Mouth Edge. Bottom marked: pressed PLASTO (in Oval with leaf wreath) and model no. 3001, I. H. 21.5 cm

Is Pietzner a successor company? Or is Plastographic a particular line from Pietzner? Scroll down for a mention here:

Of course now Google doesn't want to show me the other one.

I'm glad you brought me back to this, it turns out that I was WRONG to post that vase here as a Plasto piece. It came up in my search using the words Plasto and porcelain, and I didn't take the time to thoroughly read the auction description. It is actually described as Austrian pate-sur-pate, not Plasto at all.

Again, thanks for bringing my hasty post of misinformation to my attention! Unfortunately, however, my post is too old for me to edit. :(

its a beauty and so is that Plasto that Bronwen got. Not sure what the price range is, but I did see a Plasto toy that was like Lone Ranger or something that went for alot

Think that would be a different Plasto. A complication of searching the pottery on line is that the name 'Plasto' seems to have been used later by companies who made plastic items. It's this introduction of the name Pietzner that is confounding me as it is not in the Kovel's entry that S_I_S supplied.

Auctioneer is describing it as Austrian when it is pretty clearly marked Germany, so don't think you need to be embarrassed.

After it runs out of the closest matches to your search terms, Google starts throwing up other things that appear on the same page with matching items. I found the vase in question though a link to upcoming auctions at the bottom of the page with the completed auction of the Andromeda.

Weirdly, when I was searching this last time, Google began to show me the little blue glass pot I put in a subsequent thread, with the mention that it was offered by the same seller who sold me this, but no photos from this thread, where the name has been mentioned many times. The ways of Google passeth understanding. Does this jar show up for anyone else when searching for 'Plasto porcelain'? Does Google know I've already seen it? :nailbiting:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

That search did not show this thread for me in the first three screens (searching with my phone). So I limited the search to just the Antiquers site. This thread did come up in the results, as did your subsequent thread. Who knows why it didn't come up?

Perhaps Google doesn't show your photo in a Plasto search because, in the actual post with the photo, the Plasto name isn't mentioned?

Partly because it is not for sale, & Google unabashedly gives preference to sales sites as 'most relevant.'

This is a distinct possibility, although it surprises me, since the photos & the name Plasto are on the same page. One way to find out.

She's here. After seeing her in person, was not so convinced she is in need of a bath. In a very cautious way, tried to see if the light brown that seems accumulated in the crevices could be removed with plain water & a high tech sponge that provides very fine abrasion with minimal pressure. Nothing budged, so think it is a deliberate effect to bring out the details.

    upload_2020-5-28_15-14-22.png

It is the way her upper lip is outlined that made me rethink the grunge hypothesis.

Also now see there is an additional mark, a 4-digit number incised into the glaze with something sharp & fine, like a needle. Anyone know what this is likely to be? I'm guessing impressed numbers are for the shape & maybe decoration, but that this number that was applied later might be for the artist who did the work?

    upload_2020-5-28_15-17-39.png

It's larger than I realized from seller's photos with a ruler. Diameter of lid is about 16 cm, a bit more than 6 inches. It seems much too large to be a powder jar & is almost more like a lidded bowl. I was thinking I had something bitty compared to the vases. Not so.

Now, where to put her that I can both keep her safe & enjoy her? Maybe the answer is to lock the cats in the display cabinet.

I’ve looked and looked. I can’t even find another vanity jar by them.

If you can't find it, it ain't out there, or, at least, not on the Internet. Given how clearly pieces are marked & how attractive they are, really surprising that there are not more examples of Plasto porcelain of any type turning up. I would love to see more of their productions that are not decorative plates. There are just so many other companies that have used the name Plasto, including toilet seats from India:

    https://www.rcplasto.in/sanitary-product.html

Just found these, although unfortunately the 2018 eBay link is defunct. Seller in France:

Magnifique paire de Pâte sur pâte - Plasto, Vienna - Epoque Art Nouveau - 39.5cm

    Another dead eBay link:

Half dead link for Austrian eBay listing:

Looks like finding Plasto pieces that are not adorned with water nymphs is also going to be a challenge.

Now with a more accurate idea of size, think this was not a vanity piece. Bonbonniere is a possibility.
