Just thought I would bring this up so maybe someone else will have another look. I really really like it but have no idea what it actually is. ?Komokwa

Well, well....what do we have here ???
    Hummm.....
Those inlaid beads are an Alaskan Tlingit design feature I'm familiar with on some of their early 1900's tourist carvings.....

A lot of lightly carved small tourist bowls were made in similar fashion.

The condition is rough, showing a lot of use , and the stain has faded revealing the wood to be a red...or possibly yellow cedar......which is consistent with a wood not used by natives for food containers.
Still, a sweet early example of and Eagle bowl.

I'd agree with Komo; the wood does look like red cedar to me, and likely made for sale somewhere on the NW coast, quite a while ago.
A Northwest Coast bowl that was used as a grease bowl wood likely still be oozing grease; I don't see any evidence of that.
I have a bowl, vaguely similar, with the same sort of patina; it appears that the previous owner of my bowl had used it as an ashtray. :(
