    Thoughts on this little writing desk? No mark. Age? Value? What was mounted to lid?

    Thanks. When I click on the small images, they enlarge. Is it still better to post larger photos?

    After you upload there is a button that says "insert all photos as full image". Click on that and the images will go in the body of the text. That is the preference.

    Would say it is walnut circa 1880. Something doesn't seem quite right with the area under the lift top..... like it is not complete. Hard saying what was mounted to the top. Doubt it was original to the piece.

    Are there pieces missing? The style is something like a davenport captains desk, but looks off.

    Dont they call this a davenport desk? I think its missing the drawer. Is there a well under that lid? Ha,sniped again! LOL!

    After looking a little closer, it does appear to have been modified in some way over the last century or so. I think there was another compartment below but not a drawer. Who knows?!? If only antiques could talk... IMG_0760.JPG IMG_0759.JPG
