Sorry, missed something. How do we know these were done by a woman? (All I see is a first initial.) And how do we know that they were exhibited in her lifetime? (These appear to be art class assignments not original works.)

Yes Debora, you are absolutely right. I give up to quick! That's why all my paintings land up stored away in the garage. I'm clearing out a bit and going trough all my paintings which I bought over the years. Almost all of them need research and I'm maybe rushing to start on a other projects and scrap this one from my list.

We indeed don't know yet if she had exhibitions or not. A Greek native read the signature and one signature doenst start with the K but with a other Greek letter. He told me her name was Aikaterina because of this.

You are right.! Do we know her name is Aikaterina. I believed him because he is Greek.

    Yes I know.

1905 is actually the 20th century. I think these are probably student works. Lord knows how many times we had to sit in museums and sketch or look at busts and sketch. Have art schools done away with that? I was at the High Museum in Atlanta last week and they had live model drawing. Anyone strolling through could grab a pad and sit down and draw. And, no, the model wasn't nude, in case you wondered.
