How old do pieces have to be to discuss in this forum? I am trying to sell of house full of furniture and am new to researching descriptions and values. Cabinet.jpg

No problem in discussing newer things. Would call this a buffet with china hutch. Natural oak. Looks to have been built in a smaller shop or by a crafts-person as opposed to coming from a mainstream furniture company. We get a lot of this kind of thing being built by the Amish around here.

It is an Amish set manufactured by A-America. The set is large with a good size table, 6 chairs, leafs, and this hutch. I was trying to determine the style name and a resource to determine a price to ask. Thank you for your reply also.

Didn't realize the maker was A-America from your post. Might be helpful to better spell out what you are asking. There is no real style to this other than maybe country colonial (just made that up). Stuff like this is way out of fashion most places but there are still some folks who like it.

It might be helpful to find out where you are and how you plan to sell this stuff to better help you. I would have trouble giving this kind of stuff away. Could see it going for a pittance at auction. Had a similar set in our group shop priced at $750.00 and know the dealer had to discount it to sell. Don't know what he ultimately sold it for. He might have ended up taking it home since it took up so much valuable floor space for too long.

I am in Rochester, NY and planned on selling it through Craigslist.

You might get lucky. They have a hard time giving it away here in Connecticut, at least in the Hartford area. Rochester is a different market and local tastes differ.

Rochester is probably not all that different than where I am but maybe a bit larger. I would play up the Amish built aspect of it. Would not be surprised if this set was over 3K new. You might shoot for 1/2 to 1/3 of that and accept a best offer if you have some time to market this. You can always come down if you have to. Not as easy to go up. If you need to sell fast, start lower and be ready to take any offer that comes your way. Be prepared to split the set up if necessary. Just make sure it is worth your while to do so.
