    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kintsugi

"Japanese aesthetics values marks of wear by the use of an object. This can be seen as a rationale for keeping an object around even after it has broken and as a justification of kintsugi itself, highlighting the cracks and repairs as simply an event in the life of an object rather than allowing its service to end at the time of its damage or breakage."

Ah, we'd just call it hoarding.

    Hi,
I did a few repairs like that to a few pieces of old porcelain using gold bronzing powder. It was a good thing for a few years and something to try. I was not thrilled with my results but other people liked them.

We need this to catch on. I have several good candidates to cash in on the trend with. ;)

if you like this type of stuff you might enjoy looking thru Andrew Baseman's blog 'Past Imperfect' showcasing many 'make-do' repairs he has documented.

For example here's a cake stand with a make-do repair to the stem:

Curious that antiques experts often chant the mantra Condition, Condition, Condition.

It is true that collectors prefer items in top condition, but we have found that sympathetic repairs are no barrier to sales if price is amended
