Last one...painting identification

    Last one..thanks

    Can't see little dots in this one, I see brush strokes and layers, no signature. Do I take the back off?

    Now that looks like an old oil painting. But decorative, not a true work of art. Look at how it was painted with haste and economy for maximum effect with minimum effort.

    Would you ever advise removing the back in search of more information or is that a terrible idea?

    Well, others may disagree, but... yes. Doesn't effect value but can be a bit of work.

    Maybe that's how art collectors of the day viewed Van Gogh's work.
