Featured Beautiful 1920s portrait, couple?

I was lucky enough to find this beautiful 1920s portrait for a good price. I love the outfits on these two!!!! Do you all think they were a couple or perhaps brother and sister? What piece of jewlery is the girl wearing that's hanging down her neck?

 

It looks like strings of beads.

 

Looks to me like a loom beaded necklace, she may have even made it herself...

Yes, loomed bead necklace. And, given snub vs. hook nose, a couple I'd think.

The reason I thought more strings of beads is because they seem to be strung along the warp. Maybe its a combination - the square design strung on weft, and in between strung on the warp as strings of beads.

As a former beader, I collected antique beadwork and have a necklace very similar to the one posted by Debora

Argh! As with all things paper you run the risk of mold. Well this was no exception... When the sun comes out I may try to treat them. The exterior case is fine it's just on the back of the actual images. I will wipe them down with isopropyl alcohol, let them sit in the sun, and then vacuum them off and see what I end up with. Would you all throw them out? Or keep them?

 

Anyone? On one hand I love the images but on the other hand I hate mold. I'd hate to get rid of them...

 

Clean them up. They'll be fine.

 

I would keep them unless after cleanup I saw it coming back...

 

I cleaned them and they no longer smell at all. Some of it brushed off and I gave them a wipe down in isopropyl alcohol and let them sit in the sun for about an hour. I may repeat the process once more. I will also vacuum them and take an eraser to them to clean up the staining. A paper conservator told me to use a high quality eraser and it can lift up some of the staining.
