Matching Cushman finish

    I've been finding & saving 1930's Cushman Colonial furniture for 20 years and have always mixed stains to recreate their trademark russet finish - a combination of colonial maple, sedona red, mahogany, etc... a trial and error system. I always try to save original finishes, but sometimes it can't be saved. Question; anyone know of any other finish methods to match Cushmans. This image captures their finish pretty well...

    Looks a bit like Minwax Early American. Might need to thin it a bit (or mix it with a more golden finish) if too dark. However, maple does not take stain as dark as some other woods so might be fine straight out of the can.
