Does anyone know where these lovelies are from, and how old they are?
I've seen similar silver filigree flower jewellery, with those little mirror discs on the petals, listed as Italy ca 1910, and Portugal.
They are pretty long, 7 cm / 2 3/4 inches, and the gauge of the hook is slightly thicker than on modern ones.

First guess would be Portugal, but these were made everywhere from Portugal to Italy to Israel, Turkey and even further East. Without marks...dunno. Odds are good they're Portuguese, but I can't rule the others out.

Thank you, it is good to have your input.
Yes, silver filigree is used a lot around the Mediterranean and Portugal. It is always difficult to pinpoint an origin.
I know they are not Turkish, Turkish filigree is made inside a thicker rim. And these 'feel' European, not very scientific of course.
Portuguese filigree is often very detailed, but then I only know it from the fifties onwards, and these earrings do look older. The mirror discs on the petals make me think they were made to reflect candlelight, but maybe that is just the romantic in me.

I have a bracelet in gold washed silver with identical flowers which has matching clip earrings. That suggests post WW2 for what it's worth. Mexico made and makes filigree, but these don't look that.

Thanks OBB, any idea where you got them from, and if the clips are original?
Filigree also made it to Hispanic colonies like Mexico, but I agree, what I've seen looks nothing like these. Mexico mostly has quite sturdy scroll filigree.
As to the period, that is a difficult one, old filigree traditions still continue. The thick hooks make me think that they are not recent, but I'd love to know how 'not recent' they are.

Bought at a flea market near London and the clips are definitely integral to them. I also have some fabulous old Chinese filigree and some Portuguese stuff. Rather fond of it. Those dangles on yours look a bit North African.

Could be North African, they have so many different styles there.
I am a filigree addict. I have antique Dutch pieces, of course, silver and gold. But also Mediterranean, from all sides of the Med, Asian especially Arab, Chinese and Indonesian, and Latin American. It is a fabulous technique, I love it.

I'm rather partial to cannetile, as well.

    Lovely!
I just won a gold cannetile brooch in an auction. Pretty run of the mill, but a nice price.
