Does anybody recognise this logo?

    It's on the bottom of the brass box and that's the only clue here.

    I dont think the mark is off at all. Many companies will evolve their mark over the years. Have you seen Betty Crocker lately? She's evolved into a more blended woman. Or the NBC peacock it got more abstract. Or Aunt Jemima she's not the same when I grew up. Companies do this to stay relevant. If you follow the link the person posted, it shows that the company has evolved this mark over the years.

    Yes it is not a perfect match. You are right. In terms of TMs to me it seems there is some intent to keep some of the original design, for instance those notches on the ends of the rails, those seem to persist. And as you say, it would be nice to see a same or nearly same match. So yeah I guess I would be careful as well.
