These vases belonged to my Aunt. I haven't been able to locate any information about them. Could someone please tell me what they are and how much they might be worth. Many thanks!!

The phrase "Made in japan" dates it to after WWI. I know, not much, but I'm glass, not pottery.

They look pretty fancy to you and I. That was hand painted and all. They sold in dime stores in the US in the thirties to finance Japan's Imperial ambitions.

Thanks for the info. I think these vases are a little older than the 1970's. They belonged to my aunt who died in 1968. My parents would have never purchased anything like these for their home. My aunt may have purchased these in the 1930's. I know they were in her things after she was transferred to a nursing home. I have been trying to translate the bottom of one of the vases without any luck. Thank you for the link.

Thank you so much for your links. I did find a site that stated if there are any English words like Made in Japan on the bottom then your item isn't an antique.
I did find an item on Ebay that looked like my vase and said Made in Japan but the character in red is different.
I found another vase that has much more detail like your vase. On the bottom is the same red character but doesn't have the words Made in Japan. I don't know what the red character means and spent a lot of time trying to translate it yesterday.
