    Hi Gaily, In your TOP image....did the top of your cabinet/chest ever open from the top??? Closest to us in the furthest right, it kind of looks like a broken hinge....is that what I'm seeing?? Or is it just a crack in the wood??

    Think that is the back board laying on top.
    See the second picture it's been placed to the back.

    Well, now, I AM confused!! SO, still in the TOP image, is the piece resting on top towards the front....is that original to the chest too??? If that attaches to the back section of the top, I would think it awkward to lift the lid up, wouldn't it??
