Native American rug

    My neighbor just brought this rug and some other things back from an elderly aunt's house, aunt going into assisted living. Neighbor recalls seeing it on her aunt and uncle's sofa for years. Parts of the rug are in disrepair, specifically a few of the little triangles are coming undone, plus one corner has damage.

    From what I've learned on this board, felt fairly confident this was NA.

    Just curious if anyone can tell me anything about the rug from the photos -- age, region, etc. Also does the damage pretty much negate the value on this or is by any chance a better piece? It measures 64" x 34".

    navajo...1980's...just average.....2 grey hills maybe...i'm not certain..
    sure looks like someone used a bad dye lot on the red fabric and it ate away the material. I suspect over time the other red fabric will meet the same fate...

    Thank you for taking a look and the information. Much appreciated!

    I was suspect of the dye as well as almost all of the loose threads are in that color. Will pass this along to my neighbor, who I am sure would say thank you as well!
