Joined today after becoming fascinated by some pieces that have been passed down in the family -mainly copper/bronze and english silver/plate.
My request for help is in identifying the source/age of a solid silver goblet, purchased by my Aunt on her way to Britain from New Zealand around 1962. I am not sure if the goblet is Japanese or Chinese, but I love the dragon motif. I will try and upload pictures. Would be most appreciative if someone can help. The goblet is 9cm high and 6cm diameter at the top

    Welcome!

Lovely goblet. Culturally Chinese, rather than Japanese. You didn't mention how your aunt's voyage went, did she visit Singapore? In that case it could be Peranakan, Straits Chinese.
Shangas may be able to shed some light on this.

Many thanks for the reply - I will have to ask my sister - I am not sure, I have a feeling they (my grandmother and aunt) may have travelled by boat as I had done with my father in 1959, in which case Singapore is highly likely.

Welcome.. The pics being jpeg would serve you better so the people can view them and give you their expertise. Not sure if you don't know how or if I am just not seeing the pics. Here they are incase.. Not sure if allowed, if not I apologize. Good luck to you.

You're welcome. I screen captured the pdf image and turned them into jpeg using PSP. I know my terminology is wrong, but I went blank..
