Just to kick this new section off, here is my recently acquired WWI Enfield rifle Spike Bayonet, known as a "Pig Sticker" 11 inches long.

Davey is there a date on the scabbard or the base of the spike? I am curious to know how you know it is from WWI. British and commonwealth troops used the Lee Enfield for WWI and WWII.

    Hi der_alder1 and welcome
I identified the make and period from the marks on the edge of the spike fitting that attaches to the rifle
No 4 MK II , I should have said WWII.

can you post a photo of the marks and where they are located? It might help others who can see where to look to try to identify the time period for these bayonets.

What is the origin of the Brits using Mark for model? It sounds like a Gerry thing.

The British have been using Number and Mark for their Lee-Enfield rifles since the early 1900's with the Short Magazine Lee Enfield Mk I in 1904.
