Hey everyone, I had this on a different site about 1 year ago, no replies only mine saying I seen one similar from a well known Chinese artist and sold for I think $32,000. I don't expect that from mine, I would like to know more about this piece, I can't remember the other one's name that I seen almost a year ago. 036.JPG 037.JPG 039.JPG 040.JPG

Is it possible it's a candleholder? I'm not really getting an Oriental vibe off this. The bird design and color scheme remind me of German or Scandinavian, last quarter of the 20th century. JMHO.

Hi Don, it's hollow inside, no holding spot for a candle, unless you just wedge it in the hole. The one I seen about a year ago by the Asian artist man, was pure white though and signed by him at the rim.

No opinion on ANYTHING except that if it WAS designed as a candle holder there may have been a brass cup that fitted into the opening , sitting flush with the top. I have seen similar (more recent) porcelain/ceramic pieces with that treatment

I like this piece.................nice form and proportions.................

Oh, that makes sense to me now. I'll check and see if any wear on rim from any brass pieces, also I will check online for candle holders like this. Before I was researching porcelain bottles.
