I am looking to buy the contents of an apartment. The son said that they were told this table was worth $500 five years ago. It's a nice table, but why would it be worth that much? Can anyone help?

    Hi Book,
I think he was really mistaken or confused. The most I saw that table offered was 75 dollars and had no takers. That was in 1990s. I love the cloverleaf pattern but no way 500 bucks.

Thanks greg. I made an offer that didn't include the table - that way it isn't a sticking point.

Was there ever another table that he could have this confused with?
Wishful thinking at $500, even at the height of the furniture sales. The condition of the top certainly destroyed any "value".

Well, it was best not to argue with them. I just took everything else.
It is a nice table, but I couldn't have sold it like that anyways and I hate refinishing furniture.

I happened to see a similar table design online, though not the exact design, with an antique auction site collections. It was Vintage - Cherry wood Anne Round side design priced at $149.99. Not sure, why would your son presume the price of the table in the picture to be $500, which is way too expensive. Have you tried checking for the antique designs available online? You might find details of the maker and the make of the table. Another option would be seeking expert guidance from living room furniture services. There are many sites on antique collection.
