Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Hi again!!!! I have this little oriental rug.....41" fringe to fringe and 37" the other way.... it says Iranian/Persia on the labels on the back side....it came with my father's sailboat back in the mid-sixties.....I do believe it needs another cleaning.....it's not being used as I do not want my dogs thinking it might be OK to leave a sample on it....they're pretty good, but one never knows!!!! Back in the eighties, one cleaner said it was worth at least a thousand dollars.....I know ZIP about orientals!!!!! It's very thick as well. Anyone care to offer any input on it????? MANY THANKS again....in advance!!:):):):D

An expert can likely trace the labels.....but to me they look 60's ...

A good cleaning would bring it back to life...

Just a bit of trivia to add to the rug's story.

The Atiyeh brothers, George and Aziz, emigrated from Syria, and started the Atiyeh Bros. in Portland in 1900. In the 1920s, Aziz moved to New York, to be closer to overseeing the production of the Kerman de Lux label rugs in Kerman, Persia, which were imported to the Portland store.

George's son Victor took over the business during WWII, and ran it until he was elected governor of Oregon, (the first Arab-American governor in the nation, better known as Vic Atiyeh.)

The company is still in the family, with the fourth generation now operating outlets in Portland, Tigard, and Eugene.
