Wow! That is very, very cool. Why don't you send some photos of it to Rock Island Auction house?

It's a cow horn, so Texas is a distinct possibility.

Do they have wild boar in Texas?

Yes, they have wild hogs here. In the 1930's they released the
Eurasian wild boars, which then bred with the feral hogs (domestic hogs out in the wild) and the hybrid of those two. There are probably not any true Eurasian left.

I'm being dense I'm sure but do you see a boar? I see a wolf.
(My brother lives in Arizona and he hunts Javelina. I see they have them in Texas also.)

I think it's supposed to be a wolf. That javelina is supposed to be dinner. He looks .. yummy.

Did it kill any mockingbirds? Or did it have a Gentleman's Agreement with them?

I vote wolf also. Do know the state of Arkansas has always been famous for their wild boars, razorbacks.
    http://www.nps.gov/buff/naturescience/feral-hogs.htm

The University of Arkansas mascot is the Razorback. "Calling the Hogs" is sacrosanct at their sport events.

    Woooooooooo, Pig ! Sooie!
    Woooooooooo, Pig ! Sooie!
    Woooooooooo, Pig ! Sooie!
    Razorbacks!

If you could turn that wolf into a razorback, this powder horn might be considered a prize possession for some die-hard UA fan.
