    Not in the Pine Barrens.
The Jersey Devil wouldn't stand for that. ;)

This is my favorite thread. I enjoy seeing what everyone finds, it keeps me going when the finding is not good in my area.

Funky when you list the WW II Mug use the term "Watch Mug". The sailors warmed their hands as they stood watch on long cold nights.

Today I found a way to waste gasoline. We had a big snowstorm and there were no sales advertised except one non-motivating moving sale. I went to a church thrift that's only open a few hours on Saturdays. Closed. A junk shop that was closer to home was just plain closed; the sign was gone. Got to the Ill Will and spent ... $3 on nothing important. Better luck next week I guess!

some great finds funkeysfind - hope you have a Fabulous Birthday:)
gold is always a good find tyeldom3:) Looks like nice case iron! I've never tried the bacon grease oven method for cleaning rust, I use a vinegar/water bath (50/50), works well for me.

I went to a sale this morning and bought a few goodies
2 pieces of Fenton Aqua Crest, the scent bottle is missing the stopper, Welz blue and white spatter glass vase and an unknown little blue glass piece, carved wood bear with fish, a couple of modern Japanese (maybe bronze) paperweights

thanks tyeldom3! Depending on condition they might have to soak for several hours but it will come off easily when ready. I had a couple of pieces that soaked for 20 hours before it started to come off. I am pretty lazy when it comes to cleaning cast iron and use whatever is easiest, lol.

Thanks Suzy60us for the tip :)

WOW - great finds cxgirl! That Welz glass is so pretty. I wonder if I would keep or sell a piece if I found it. Maybe I will find out someday.

Folks are off to a great start with their finds! I just glanced at our local EstateSales and there were 12 -15 and some really decent ones. Hard not to go shopping this morning. I did see one yesterday I almost went too, with tag sales prices and mouth drooling stuff (several 1940-50's disney items in the boxes). I feared a blowout in the line and didn't bother. I noted the 3-day sale is no longer on the website, so... sold out? Here, the weather is good - 73 and sunny, so folks are selling.

    Happy day all.

Instead of estate sales, we found more snow. They even cancelled the second service at church.

Got a bunch of antique reference books for roughly $1 each! Looks like I have some reading to do. Have already located a few of my pieces that I thought were good quality but didn't know the maker.

Joe, I always find it exciting to come across a reference book (especially at a decent price) for something I actually have! Sounds like you got a bargain!

I like the bear with the fish! King, you are from the PINE BARRENS? They were my back yard growing up.....we had a woods with creeks, swamps, wildflowers (lady slippers), teaberries, mushrooms we picked and ate....wow! I love it here..... swimming in cedar water, the change of seasons... are you still here or did you move? Ever go to the Cranberry Festival in Chatsworth? Batsto? Oyster Creek? Smithville? Swim at the Weymouth Furnace or in the Greenbank River?

    Hi! You're a Piney! :) Wow!
No. I'm from Jersey City. We moved away to Vegas and I never got to drive around.
In '82 the NJ Devils were born and I didn't know why the heck they were named that.
I learned and every trip home now I go somewhere in the Barrens. :)
I have been to Batsto when closed though, and the great museum there.
Been to Smithville, I think. Double Trouble next time if possible. :)
I assume you've seen the movie Nothing But Trouble? ;)
I've not done those other things but surely would have if we hadn't moved just as I turned 17. :(

    Hi Marko,
I remember the first time I swam in cedar water. When I came out I looked like a monster from the black lagoon. Every invisible hair on my body had light brown "hair" dripping from them. I looked like an orange hairy ape. I loved the Barrens.
