Good job with photo! Maybe you can add a few more pictures, if you have some. Maybe @Any Jewelry will be online sometime soon and take a look for you.

Yes it is real.:) I couldn't tell you the exact age though, but it is a genuine Thai piece, of the same scene from Wat Pho that AuDragon and I posted on the previous page.

Awesome, and the spots of orange alot like the color on the previous page with the man making one.. I think the artist must of dropped some on his rice paper while walking to different spots doing his art..

Quite an interesting way of keeping the paper in place while the individual works!!!!

Back in the late '60s when I was in to 'tombstone rubbing' and doing some very rough 1700's stones, I remember we were using rice paper and 'craypa' (if I'm still spelling that correctly!), but I don't know what they use today.....BUT I DO LOVE the colors being used and it does look like a 1 off on rice paper.......but it WAS a long time ago I was doing it too!!!:rolleyes:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    Welcome to Antiquers, @joeydondo !

I don't remember seeing this thread when first posted last year, but might have. It's often fun to see them again.

The preservationists have strongly discouraged if not banned that once-common practice. It contributes to the deterioration of the stone. In some cemeteries here, and particularly in the New England states, (where you DO have the coolest ones , Aquitaine!) you could go to jail for that! We've had a strong volunteer program and funding for cemetery preservation, recording, care and re-hab in place for about 20 years now, usually led by the state historic preservation offices. Sorry, a bit off-topic there!

I know, BACK then, they were just starting to be conscious of preservation of these wonderful old tombstones!!!! And now, we just take pictures and can manipulate the images in OH SO MANY WAYS!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I have recently purchased a couple of temple rubbings but I can't find anything on them. I was wondering if anyone in here could tell me a little bit about them? Thank you! temple.png Temple Rubbing_1.png

    Welcome @kelsey.ammber .
Yours are not temple rubbings. The first one looks like a rubbing from a Persian Zoroastrian relief. It is difficult to see the details of the second one, the deer hunt, but it could be Persian as well.
