i was told this is terra cotta. but not sure

    Does look like pottery on the bottom. I couldn't even hazard a guess where this is from. Looks like a decorator item for Western consumption so China might be a good bet.

    Those carved roses an grapes. Very common on 1950s and later Italian stuff.
