This one plate is a fake something, innit...can't quite work out what it's fake of ( Chinese something?) and the other one I have no clue about at all.
The fake old one is 6 inches and the other is about four and a half.

Got them both at different times, and as per hardly any cash was exchanged, got them both for learning purposes .

Even clueless ole me could see the one had TOO many crack-ages xxx
    Thanks everyone xxx

that thick one must attach to something else......IMO.
the other has too much crazing for me to think it has much age....

    I thought that too xxx

Thank you Komo...wondered if the hole one was a part of one of those cake stand things? Perhaps bit thick for that?

    Pretty, Bou.
The first one looks Japanese, but could have been made somewhere else in Asia.
The second one looks like one of the Imari-derived styles, like gaudy Welsh or similar. And I also think it was part of a cake stand. You can still make it into a single tier one.
    @Ownedbybear probably recognizes the style.

I'd say part of a stand - and yes, Imari in style, probably mid 19th.

T'other isn't a fake as such, it's fairly modern with deliberate craquelure to it.

Thank you everyone! And thank you for understanding what I said! I wrote it and when I read it back I got even more confused. (That was what I meant, deliberate crackling Mrs. B. xx )
Ok thank you, got it...not a *fake* per se but new with deliberate cracklingings. I did pick up the crackliningings things were deliberate. It was one of those things I put in a bag at booties and pay at the end for the entire bag full, and get a good look at when I get home.( Or not, actually as what usually happens is I put it away and find it again many months after whilst looking for something else) .

Thank you again, off to look at Imari style xx

Could the bottom one be the insert to a butter dish?

I'd have thought more holes if it were.

The hole where the porcelain shows in the blue one looks perfectly clean?

But beneath is dirty and chipped.

I may have missed where the OP gave measurements, but I was kind of going by the flatness of the second one when I said it could be an insert. Yes, most have more holes, but some just one.

There is usually circular wear around the hole when a plate is used with a cake handle. My guess for the imari disk is, it is part of a coaster set where the entirety rests on a wooden or ceramic spindle.

Yebbut, having a hole in the middle of a coaster doesn't seem like a good idea.

Agree with Janet. A very bad idea in fact.

It does seem like the best idea so far. If they unscrewed the handle, the pottery might have come completely away. Maybe they threw out the silver part. I'm guessing we're still looking out of curiosity?
