So were the plates in the top right #1 Wedgwood Patrician? Next to the Liberty Blue.
In the top left #2 the 3 plates what were they? Kind of look like Flow Blue
    #3 Wedgwood cup?

OK, the reveal feels a bit superfluous after wenna's posts but the answer is of course, the Ridgway & Abington Hanley stoneware anti-slavery jug. This was a design January 1st 1858 (not 1873 as per Kovells), you can see the date on the underside.

That date is important, as the jug was pre American Civil War, and public opinion in Britain would be influenced by the scene of fleeing Eliza and baby pursued by the whip brandishing overseer, the slave auction with the rostrum notice "By auction this day a prime lot of healthy negroes" and the handle formed by a praying slave.

Here are the photos of the real thing:

    And the other points

af: my contribution to roadfill will, I hope, be recognised by the honours committee

cluttered: there was some enoch wedgwood, possibly some wedgwood, but the plates as a whole were damaged with chips, crazing and underglaze staining and not worth keeping. We did salvage one Wedgwood duo.

Mansons: the glass beaker is a measure made by Ensign. We also kept the eggs.

Many of you like the specs, I was overhasty in getting rid of those :(

And the cheese (or more likely butter) dish was kept, Crown ducal I think.

wenna said Kovells valued it at $1645 but that looks well over the top.

Value helps, but I love jugs (pitchers!) with historical interest

Nope, it's all good, just a bit dusty and the lid sits slightly proud

Thanks for the info on the beaker, and amusingly enough, I thought Crown Ducal when I saw the other piece! I'm not overly familiar with Crown Ducal, but I do have a dinner service and a half by them.................

    Love the jug, and congrats!

I'm late for the party, but I would have chosen this jug. Nice. Wonder how it got over there.

The Brits made it for export to the US, and there was a strong anti-slavery movement in Britain at the time. Take your pick. It sure didn't go back with escaping Confederates at the end of the Civil War.
