    Hi everybody!

I have the opportunity to buy this lamp.
It has been from my neighbour's grandmother.

After seeing the pictures, I believe it's called a bouillote lamp.
Can anybody tell me if I'm right?

    I have no idea about:
    -Age
    -Origine
-Material it's made out of. (They believe it's copper, I think it's brass)
    -Value

Maybe there should be a leather shade on it?
Or is this the original shade?

    By the way..
    I'm new here.
Is it allowed to ask about/discuss value on this forum?

I hope to hear from anyone of you soon!
(Better pictures not availlable for now, they're coming..)

    Kind regards,
    R. Antonis

I'm not at all sure if this would be considered a bouillotte lamp. Ones from the 1700s when bouillotte was a popular card game and reproductions made today had/have metal/tin/tole shades that slide down a post as the candles burned down to protect the card players from the glare of the candles. Their bases were usually dish shape. The ones I've seen have the candle cups on arms rather than on a tray thingy like these are on. Following is a link to Google pictures of them. Note the stem in the middle isn't like yours.

Here's a webpage with info on bouillotte tables and lamps:

Wait for others to chime in.

I don't think it quite matches the usual description either, but it's close enough for government work. What country is the lamp in now?

At a glance, looks European. 1960s or 1970s.

But could be a bit earlier. Really hard to see in your photographs.

I don't think any earlier than the 70s and may be a decade or so later.

The metalwork looks straight out of the 60s, if we're talking American or Western European. If it's someplace like Hungary or the Czech Republic it could be later.
