I must say (as an inexperienced novice) that this is one of the few cameos I have seen that portrays the subject with some character and personality - not just a bland piece of workmanship with no feeling behind it.................

    Me Likey!!!!!

The opinions expressed above are solely mine, so they are obviously correct..................

That one is pretty... you might want to ask to see photos of the back of it to make sure the clasp, pin, and setting are still in good condition and not bent. The front looks pretty good.

I have had many cameos through the years but this set was a favorite. Pinned together with 14k and a 14k pinstem and earring hooks. Victorian Bacchus and his helpers.

Wow -- I love that! So you do not have it any more?

The back looks fine... to me, the clasp looks earlier than 1940s. But others may have a different opinion. I would have said this was 1920s-1930s perhaps.

Sadly, no Fig. It was sold a few years ago to a collector.

Nice carving on that one. A lot of the shell cameos are rather flat and not very pretty, to be blunt about it. That one's nice.

I found a couple more on that site that might make the short list. I have to ponder it and if they make the list I'll post them here for comparisons :)

I was just thinking that! Unusual setting, too.

I like both of the latest ones... However, the last one does have "lines" in the shell that may be stress fractures. As the seller wrote, "barely seen." but now that I read that description I can even see them in the photo. So although it's beautiful I'd be very cautious about that one. Why buy a damaged one when undamaged cameos are available?

Is there a particular site you are shopping from and what would be your price range (if it's too personal feel free to message me) ?
I can help you find a decent cameo for the price you need. :)

    Calico,

This is the site I have been looking at. The ones I have been looking at are around the $400.00 range. That would be the upper limit for sure.

If you have other avenues for Cameos, shoot me a message and we can take this off board.

    Thanks!
