    What kind of boat is this?

    If I saw a boat with this profile today, I would say it's likely to be a tugboat. Could also be a pushboat for barges.

    I'd say it is a steam powered river or harbour tug dating from about 1900, although I think the painting is much more recent.

    Hi Kath,
    Can you see up close the name on the vessel? From my perspective it looks like a name on the bow area.

    Hi Kath,
    Thanks for the close up. It had that mid30s to early40s look. I absolutely love this painting. Not so much the frame. I think it needs a nice plain wood frame. Did I say I like this painting?:rolleyes:

    Greg, the boat was built in 1886 and was sunk in 1916 I think when a German sub rammed it
