Yes, it is mostly used on import, though sometimes on older pieces which have been submitted again for assaying. That is why it is often called an import mark, which it isn't really. We import quite a lot of jewellery from Germany. (I also do my bit )
So it arrived today. Still fighting to gets better photo of this diabolical mark. Maybe it’s an anchor in a C?
It is a beauty, and the cabs certainly look like coral. I still think it is German, but can't find the maker's mark. Maybe @DragonflyWink can.
Thank you AJ, I looked, too. I tried to draw it, but I’m not even certain this is right. Anyway, There’s a place for it.
It doesn't really look like an anchor shape to me. I think the two smaller cross bars are the same shape and length.
Agree, AJ. Looks a bit like a monogram style mark to me. I looked at Danish assayer marks, but did not find a match.
