Is this a jade necklace & what kind of jade?

    It looks like a "conchoidal fracture",but since the flake didn't pop out it hard to tell,with that type of fracture most likely some type of quartz material.Testing would be needed to identify though.

    Could of happened when they were drilling the hole, how do you test for jade?

    If it's jade ( and I think it probably is) it is nephrite jade

    It looks like West Coast jade or Central American jade, rather than the Chinese kind. If it's jade.
