So you believe they are intentional?
I should think so but as I said, I would't put one right next to the handle.

Yes these are intentional and perfectly aligned with each other

Thank you, It is hard for you to see from the photos but there is more chance of the handle snapping because of its shape than the dents I will upload a another shot with the handle straight on, but I think the dents would pose no weakness as such - Sean

OK. As a metal fabricator this I want to see. :)

This is a ceramic piece ... not a metal one. The 'dents' were either part of the design of the mold or pushed in while the clay was still malleable before it was dry.

Don't think so because of the lettering style of the numbers and "Made in England," but just in case there are maker's marks in the muddle of the bottom...

Would be amusing with the correct ugly piece. :)

The use of Made in England replacing just England kicked in around 1921 onwards so Made in England is used on pottery from this Art Deco era but as for the numbers I am not sure on that but thank you - Sean

I did think it was strange but as I am a new member I didn't want to question you in case you were a tad excentric and had things for design flaws :) I added the photos :) just in case - Sean

Very lovely piece Sean, what luck to have gotten it for all of $2. These are the bargains I love, regardless of their value, you get to look at something that's pleases you every day now.:)

PInched, indeed. You may never find out who made it: there were thousands of factories in Staffordshire at the time.

Hi Sean - sorry I'm a little late to the party! For what it's worth your pitcher reminds me very much of a type of pottery called alienware. Arguably the best known name in alienware is Ditmar-Urbach which was based in Czechoslovakia. I don't know if any English companies were also making alienware but it might be another term you could search.
