I have an old ring with a sideways B as the makers mark. I was wondering if anyone could help me find who the maker was.

    Thank you in advanced.

You do know it's Masonic and your photograph is upside down?

I don't think the maker is important.
The value will be for the 14K, and the fact that it is a Masonic ring.

Thanks so far! I know it is Masonic as I am a freemason. It is upside down to show the hallmark on the inside of the band. I have no interest in selling it (I wear it) I just want to find information on who made it.

I haven't had any luck in IDing the maker or finding another ring like this. I was hoping the Masonic symbols might give a clue to a specific degree and from there find other rings denoting the same degree. Most of the symbols I can ID so far are common Masonic symbols. I was hoping to make out a symbol denote a specific degree like 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or one of the branches like York Rite (Royal Arch Mason, Royal and Select Masters, Knights Templar) or Scottish Rites (4th to 32nd degree). The only one that seems to denote a specific office is the level. The particular level pictured on this ring is the symbol of a Blue Lodge senior warden (1st assistant to the Blue Lodge Worshipful Master). The other ones that I can see look like common Masonic symbols. The symbols I think??? I can ID with the ring rotated are from left to right:

1st: can't see enough of it to ID
2nd: the Level, symbol of a senior warden.
    3rd: compass G
    4th: trowel
    5th: possibly a gauge????
    6th: gavel or mallet
7th: not enough of it showing

Thanks Susan, i am fimilar with all of the symbols around the outside of the ring and what they mean. Waht I am most conserned with is the Makers Mark (hallmark) on the interior of the ring, the sideways capital "B".

Looks more like an owl's head than a "B".

Yes, I know you are wanting the maker, and being a Mason you probably knew the significance of the symbols. I was looking for another way of trying to ID the maker. I thought if the ring denoted a particular degree then might find other rings for that degree like it by the same maker that the owners knew who the maker was - in other words, another "way to skin a cat."

My original thought also, Holly. Then on rotating the pic and zooming in, I agree with the OP (original poster) that it is a sideways B.

Balfour makes a lot of this stuff - class rings and other custom pieces. Their mark is usually more elaborate, but it might be worth asking them.
