I have a pair of chinese jade vases. I'm looking for any info about it and possible value. Thanks

It looks like it could be spinach jade, those things are unreal! Massive! Gorgeous! Any info on where they came from? Inherited? IF they are real, they could potentially be extremely valuable.

    Any ash residue inside?
I wouldn't call them vases, but urns. They have lids correct?

They where purchased over 20 years ago from a collector of chinese art. I don't know where he got them. They were imported from Switzerland at that time. By real do you mean the jade or age?

Yes they have lids and wood base. I think your right in thinking they are urns. No ash inside.

Both, actually. Do you have any documentation on them? When I called them unreal,I meant it in the best possible way.Couldnt hurt to shoot off an email to a few auction houses. They could potentially be big money, even if they were 1980s pieces.
Im no asian expert, this is all just my opinion.

I don't have any documentation on them. I would like to have them looked at further.

Where do you live? Some of the large auction houses have days where you can bring things in for evaluation. You could also take some photos of the various aspects of the pieces to see if they would be interested.

Those are amazing!! I think Rago has an auction house in NJ, you may want to contact them. They also have a walk in appraisal day I think every month. I would check out their website for more details. You may also want to look at your local art Museum and see if there are any links to appraisers or authenticators. Be really careful though, any appraiser or authenticator should never try and buy the items or offer to help sell them for you. It is very unethical. They really are quite beautiful.

They are beautiful! Rago is a very good one, plus Christie's and Sotheby's in NY have experts and special auctions in Asian antiques. I'd try them as well. Send some good photos to the expert in that department, and if they are interested (or not), they'll definitely let you know.

I just found this one on Heritage Auctions, 9" tall, much smaller than yours. Sold for $1,375 jade urn.jpg

I'm going to check out Rago. They aren't to far from me. I was also thinking about emailing pictures to to christie's and Sotheby's what can it hurt. Its going to take some legwork ...

As large as they are and with that color, might they be soapstone or some mineral other than jade? I get really confused about Asian Stone stuff, and there's so much and so many different kinds on the market these days. The more of it I see the more I realize how ignorant I am.

Even if they're not jade, at that size and well carved they still won't go cheap.
