First thing that came to mind was that it looked like a Strasbourg piece - don't know the mark though, maybe someone with Rontgen can take a look in there?

I have Röntgen's but I don't see anything like it. I was thinking it might be French faience or even Italian but wasn't able to find an example (I did bump into a cow that I purchased at auction some years ago while browsing Liveauctioneers though. It was a surprise because I'd forgotten.)

I think I'm looking at AD under a jester like crown. The mark looks very fresh to me. The closest I see are Wolfsohn or Knopf I think.

I think that must be it, Helena Wolfsohn. Thanks!

<edit>On second thoughts, weird that it's faience/pottery .... Dresden is more of a porcelain city - so maybe not Wolfsohn?

Nice piece though, whatever it is!

Maybe closer to this mark? #56 Louis Philippe? Not sure what they produced.

    Vincennes (53-62)
Fayence from 1767 to 1771. Soft paste porcelain factory established in 1745.
    53, 54 Pierre Hannong. 1767-1771.
    55, 56 Louis Philippe.

Could just be an imitation of one of those other marks. That often points to the far east.

It looks so fresh I was wondering the same thing however if it went through Christie's it seems like there could be more to it.
