Here are a few more finds...

These mid-20th C. iron and celadon-glazed porcelain monkeys were $25 and I believe they are Thai(?).

Early-20th C. Chinese cloisonné footed tobacco box was $1.

Might have overpaid ($30) on this 19th C. Japanese celadon Seto ware orchid vase or hat stand.

This 19th C. (1817) German book was a $1.

 

It's a Lutheran Hymn book and actually American, not German, and so probably reasonably scarce.

I see now it was published in Baltimore.

The only reasons why I purchased it was the condition is very good for a nearly 200 year old book and the price. Can't go wrong for a $1.

'Nuff_Said, I'm curious about the book Afantiques identified as a Lutheran Hymnal.

Does it also contain the "services" and/or service elements (i.e., Matins, Vespers, Order of Confession, Order of Baptism of Infants, Order of Baptism of Adults, Order for Confirmation, Order for Public Confession, Order of Marriage, Order for Burial of the Dead, etc.)?

The earliest "Common Service Book with Hymnal" [Lutheran] I have is 1917.

I collect old hymnals from different religious sects.

I also have a small hardback book entitled Song and Service Book for Ship and Field Army and Navy, United States Government Printing Office Washington 1942 (although A. S. Barnes and Company Inc. held the copyright in 1941). It contains a Protestant section, a Catholic section, and a Jewish section.

It also has two sections entitled "Military Funerals Navy" and "Military Funerals Army," with detailed line drawings as well as notes regarding who proceeds first, second, etc. and the final placement of personnel (bugler etc.) and equipment (caisson etc.) of funeral processions entering the chapel, leaving the chapel, entering the cemetery and leaving the cemetery.

 

I had another look and the only comment I can add is that it is a first edition.

Cool toys and dolls, I have had just a couple of the Jenny dolls over the years and they certainly have a following! I do remember them selling fast

I found this nice lot of silver jewelry today and just kept thinking they might be fake but their not. I paid 55 for all. it includes 3 Carolyn Pollack pieces and I think Running Bear ring. Should have bought more, he had them priced higher but was dealing, He had a lot, kicking myself now. one of the rings CP rings is worth what I paid for all of it
The earrings are Mexican and the malachite ring has a mark that escapes me for the moment

 

Had a few minutes this weekend and hit an estate sale and one yard sale.... spent 45$ should clear at least 6-7 hundred, there are 75 beaded ornaments in the one tote alone ...the pop up nativity is very cool, now i just need to get LISTING!!!

 

'Nuff, in your last doll photo, neither of the dolls marked Alexander would be Ginny. Ginny was made by the Vogue company. Also, neither of them is Cissy. Cissy was a 20" tall doll, and was more of an adult fashion doll. There is a smaller doll (10") who looks a little like her named Cissette.

One trick with Madame Alexander dolls is they reused the face molds for various dolls. So you will sometimes see a phrase saying that a doll has a "Cissy face," for example. That just means her face resembles Cissy's. Generally the bodies were different.

I don't collect dolls... but actually I have four dolls now and the people on the eBay Dolls board told me I'm fooling myself to think I don't collect them.

My mother, however, collects lots of dolls and especially likes the hard plastic dolls of the 1950s. And she has a bunch of reference books about dolls. Sometimes when visiting her I've read through a lot of them. That and talking with her has given me some knowledge that I would not otherwise have had.

Is that big jug Japanese? It looks like 30s Japanese Deco, but I'm ignorant enough about pottery that I could be way off. Gotta love that turkey platter too. He looks like he has NO idea what's headed his way.(LOL)

 

I love the old christmas ornaments, they really are near to impossible to find around here anymore. Been a couple years since I seen any older than 1980. Looks like you finally got your score on the chirstmas stuff since the last one was a let down

The ones you sell are they in pristine condition? I only ask since I see boxes of them older 1920s/30s but some of have darkened silver spots. Does that make a difference.

Perfect timing for the Christmas score. I have a lot of the beaded ornaments inherited from my grandmother who made them from mail order kits 60-70s. There are precious to me.

2 miniature cabinet vase 19c: French enamel guilloche vase, Meissen vase. Chinese sterling dangle earrings with either jade or peking glass circles, signed Tortolani pin/earrings set, cinnabar earrings-1960s, swoboda pin- costume with genuine pearls & amethyst.
