    Hello All,

I have an item that perhaps someone would know what it could have been used for.

I think it may have been heated by a candle and then the brass rod used to melt or poke a hole in something.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Are you sure both pieces go together ?? Where did you get it ?? Does the brass rod fit into the tube snugly or is there space around it ??

Thank you all for your comments and for Anundverkaufen for tracking down the use as a Goffering Iron.

The brass rod fits nicely in the holder and allows for slight expansion perhaps it's not an original piece from looking at the link of pics.
This item was from my Grandfather who passed away 30 years ago, he was from London Ontario and was a collector and refinished many item's for re-sale.

Perhaps he added the Brass rod but don't know for sure.

Thank you again for tracking down the use.
