Power Line Insulator Question

Does anyone know how to tell how old insulators like these are? In my searching all I can tell is there are so many different kinds. And that they are collectable. Are these at the least Antiques?

 

I have them, too. I collected them walking the railroad tracks near my home.

1970's

I would have to say, by how they word the dates on things, that they could be vintage and not antique, or they could be antique. You would probably need to research the companies.

Nice you have the posts - adds a bit of value. Unfortunately those are very common and go for a few bucks apiece. The posts probably have more value than the insulators.

 

@daveydempsey - check out your insulator with the "arms" - most times they get broke off and yours may have some premium value.

 

Come now - glass insulators in the wild are a rare find and really haven't been found since the 80's as all lines have been replaced. Unless you are talking about broken pieces from the lineman throwing them to the ground.

Although this line was discovered 21 years ago in a desolate area in Indiana - a rare treasure but still, 1999, they all look like the very common CD 154's - probably why no one wasted their time trying to get them.

 

In the obviously Never-ending quest to prove myself worthy of my own comments...may I present a quick smattering of my "finds"....that I JUST took a picture of right now.

 

Oh please NO! LOL!

 

CD 145's and a ceramic - now ceramics wouldn't be on the same line as glass.

 

And, pardon me, Bill....but, nobody has ANY idea of what lay behind my dog's avatar!!! So, perhaps, they should not be so quick to say they DO NOT want to see what I have.....
