Hello All. Hey Im looking at the Mary Gaston series of books on RS Prussia. Namely the Collector's Encyclopedia, series 1 etc. Do you think these are quite useful or are there better ones out there? Which of the Gaston books would be best in terms of coverage? Should I get the Collectors Encyclopedia series 1 etc? Or the "RS Prussia popular LInes Identification"? There's always so many options here. Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Her books have good pictures.
Seems to me her RS Prussia book has a good marks identification.
I have them, but they are at the store.

I always preferred the Collector Books over the Schiffer books. I thought they were better organized.
I don't know who else put out books on RS Prussia.
Collector books stopped publishing I think it was around 2010.

You can find them reasonably priced at Abe books

Marple has put the scientific approach to research on RS Prussia. Most people focus on the wares made after the US established the requirement that imported wares state country of origin. The really good RS was made before that and so is unmarked.

I have Gastons book, I like it. I also have RS Prussia and more Schlegelmich Porcelain featuring Cobalt by Mary J. McCaslin. This book I really don't like, really hard to understand and look things up.

I agree with kraftblue. I have both the Gaston and the Marple series. I like Gaston's books the best but sometimes I have an easier time with Marple especially now that I have some familiarity with the early pieces and know which book to use for when. McCaslin is the one I use the least.
