Professor Michael Z,

Hi everyone, I am a professor of psychology at a small central New York College. My wife and I restore antique furniture to the best of our ability. Lately we have been specializing in Art's and Crafts/Mission furniture. I also collect art and sculptures. I'm no art expert, I tend to buy what I like and I enjoy collecting art. Currently, I have well over sixty paintings of one particular artist, Felix/A. Silver. He has used both names. He is an impressionistic realist that paints floral and landscapes. I have mostly his floral paintings. They speak to me. Otherwise, I am fairly eclectic in my taste. I do have lithographs from Cezanne, Picasso, Miro, Dali, etc. I tend to enjoy either classic floral paintings or modernist art. My sculptural tastes, are classical and modern as well. I have collected artists that specialize in blown glass to artists that are using plastics in their art. I hope to one day display the 600 plus pieces I have purchased thus far. I am happy to be here and look forward to interacting with you all.

Oh now I understand what's going on in another thread about Felix/A. Silver. But how does a brand new member change his name?? This is the second name change I've seen in the past few days. @daveydempsey ? Can you comment or explain?

I think the title for the introduction was Professor Z, but the member name in his "box" say Myka107. Does that answer your question? Not at all sure about @davedempsey? Also, Myka107 stated he had a sizeable collection of art by an artist that goes by two different names, Felix/A.Silver. (alter ego, perhaps?)

 

My question to davey is a technical one. Are members able to change their user name without assistance from a moderator? I suppose it is possible that I missed that Professor Z was using Mykal07 as his user name right from the start. In which case, please forgive my senior moment.

But I do know for sure that another recent new member's name was changed within about a week or so and after he had already made posts. He kept the same avatar picture so it was obviously the person "formerly known as."

My moniker is Mykal07, my name is Michael Z. Two completely different things. I wanted to share my name and not be known by Mykal07. There was no change. Just a reply to everyone so you could understand my background.

 

My question is does any one have any further background about Felix/A. Silver. I have read three short biographies all having different information . One stated he was the son of a Swiss banker who lived in NYC. The second one said he was trained by a famous Hungarian Painter at the esteemed university located there. The final one said he was a painter from Italy that visited NYC in the summer months. Now all three of these statements can be facts. I just cannot verify any of it.
