Featured Help with brooches please

Hello again, I am trying to sort through my collection of brooches to sell on ebay but im not sure which ones, some look like plastic cheap ones to me, is it best to sell individual or as a job lot?

 

The silver one with gold flowers is Aesthetic period. Could we see the hand one please? Close ups of the others too?

 

Just noticed, there are two hand brooches. I meant the coral coloured one, but close ups of all would be appreciated. I think there are some goodies in there.

 

I might make lots of the dogs, the bows & hearts, the leaves, & the rhinestones. I wouldn't put them together as a single lot.

Is the larger oval one at the lower right hair or some kind of stone? Looks like some decoration has broken off.

 

I can see at least three good ones. The silver hearts, the one aj has pointed out and that coral hand. Oh, and that oval one. All Victorian. Possibly the round one, top right too. Close ups!

The five I circled look to be much older and better than the others. Close ups front and back of all of them please, including any marks.

The oval one on the bottom right looks to be a gold filled mourning pin with woven hair behind glass. Unfortunately it looks as though it is damaged, missing some of the gold arcs around the outside border

This is not to say the others aren't good also, people love figural so the doggies will probably sell well!

 

Lady at the upper left reminds me of Disney Snow White.

 

That was the first one that caught my eye, Snow White she is!

 

Great eye Marie. Heart pin = Mizpah pin about 1880+-; Next:Silver pin with low grade multi-colored gold flowers, again about 1880+-: Next: Black Hand with wreath is most likely a jet mourning pin, 1850-1900 (?). Next: Very nice coral hand with GF or low grade gold bands, About !880 (?). And the Last one (as you pointed out) a mourning pin. Or, perhaps a remembrance pin? About 1860? The rest of them costume from the 30's and 40's. Looks like a nice lot!

 

You have some really nice pins.
I would not group them together.

 

I would think that if the Snow White is marked Disney it would be saleable in it's own right.

 

Don't dismiss the scotties. Need better pictures to see if plastic or bakelite.
Also, there are Scotty collectors. So I wouldn't group them until you have tried them by themselves.

 

Need a better picture of this. Is it stone? hair under glass?

Leaf one may be Danish, I've one similar. Can't recall who did it.

That hallmark is 1886. I'd like to see that round one properly, too.

 

Agree. Those early plastic scottie dogs are very popular.

 

Tweaked some of you photos a bit, but I would still like to see a closeup of the coral hand brooch, to check if it is real coral. The little finger looks translucent in the second pic.

And could you rub the back of the black hand brooch on the back of a white tile please? The rub line could be brown or black if it is one of the usual antique materials. These were also copied in (early) plastics in the early 20th century, which is what yours looks like to me. I could be wrong.



The brooch top right is a memorial brooch with woven hair. Since the enamel looks black, it is a mourning brooch, and in very good condition. Unfortunately we can't see the entire pin and no clasp at all, but I would say at least 1880, maybe older. We need to see the clasp and the length of the pin for a more correct estimate.
The Mizpah brooch with the hearts is ca 1895-1905 imo.
