Featured Tell me about this box please!

    Measures c3ins x4ins. Wooden and looks hand painted and has some age but WDIK. Flowere etc are slightly raised. Pretty little box but how would I describe it?

    It appears to be Indian lacquerware. Someone more knowledgable than I sure to come along with more information.

    At first glance I thought Petrykivka
    painted from Ukraine but I think Debora is right, Kashmiri.

    Agree, a classic Kashmiri lacquer box, nice age, and a beauty!:happy:

    Thankyou. Just to clarify, are you talking about mine or the rather nice 19thC box I found to compare the pattern to?!:hilarious:.
    I wasn’t thinking mine was that age but are you saying it possibly is?

    I was talking about yours (the other one is a beauty too).:) Yours certainly has age, my guesstimate would be pre-1940. Maybe @Ownedbybear comes across these regularly, she is in the right spot for it.:)
