    IMG_0401.JPG IMG_0402.JPG IMG_0403.JPG IMG_0404.JPG Hello all,

I have an antique painted clay(?) stove that has been in the family for multiple generations. I am trying to identify it's origins and worth. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

When put together it stands about 7' tall. I am told it is European, but have no other information or proof. The only markings I see on it are "c.v.e" and "Creazioni". It looks as if the latter was covered with paint that has since peeled off.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks. Based on the name that would make sense. I can find an artist by that last name but the initials don't match.

I dont think this was an "artistic" creation as much as a product by a company. Its a lovely stove. Im not sure WHO designed it will matter terribly much. Just my humble opinion.

    Welcome to the forum!

Creazioni is Italian that translates to creations in English. Wonder if the painting, decorating, of the stove was done by a decorating company named C.V.E. Creaziono/Creations in Italy? I'm having a hard time imagining what this stove looks like all put together. Can you post a pic of the whole stove together. BTW, it is a big help in IDing an item when the pics are Full view and not thumbnails that need to be click. It is hard to work with thumbnails when viewing queries on cell phones and other small screen media. You can edit your post and click the "Full View" option for each pic.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have a picture of it put together at this time, but it looks similar to this:

I believe this is called a ceramic stove. It is lovely. I suspect it is European also. Usually they have two doors like the example you posted. I haven't a clue on dating it or maker. When touring Europe we saw several **huge** ones in such palaces as the Schönbrunn Palace (built and remodeled in 1740-1750 by Empress Maria Theresa, mother of Marie Antoinette) in Vienna. It seems the walls of the rooms were doubled with corridors running behind the walls for the servants to use. The ceramic stoves were usually backed into the wall at a corner of a room. The servants would stoke and add wood or whatever to the stove behind the wall without coming into the rooms!

Thanks for posting this Emily. I never knew these fancy ceramic heating stoves existed. It's an interesting search!

How many pieces is your stove?

I tried to find similar stoves with "sold for" prices and dates for you. You can scroll through these searches on LiveAuctioneers.
Sorry, I can't filter out the items that don't apply, so you just have to scroll and visually pick out the antique ceramic heating stoves.

Thanks for the information. I see a few in there that look very similar. The stove has 4 pieces and is about 6-7 feet tall when put together.

Definitely from a winter country, I suggest Scandinavian origin as these were very popular there.
