I saw that on the news this morning.
Really fun find. Can you imagine, they bought it 20 years ago at auction and it has just been sitting there.

It might be noted that the news reports may have been a bit exaggerated; see https://newrepublic.com/minutes/139522/please-stop-saying-renowned-classicist-mary-beard-found-priceless-set-henry-viii-tapestries-new-York
which mentions that the finder, Mary Beard, is rather skeptical about the authenticity of the find; she writes:
"As I recall, I gave the story much as above, and responded negatively to some wilder speculations about the tapestries..... Aggghh."

    Or in her Twitter post:
"FFS. if one more newspaper report claims I've found priceless set of Henry VIII tapestries in NewYork rug shop, I'll explode!Spread the word"

I personally have no way to tell if they are authentic or not.....but it is an internet report based on newspaper reports, and I am a habitual skeptic regarding both.

Somebody'll have to do another "Shroud of Turin" investigation, so we'll probably be hearing maybe, maybe not for a few years.

Wow. That is incredible. One has to wonder how can someone just walk off with something that large and not be noticed. Hope it turns out to be the real deal. I love when "lost" items get rediscovered. Thanks for posting link to article.

Odd things do turn up occasionally in the wierdest places. I hope the tapestry is real, but even a good copy would be a find.

Just learned that artist Carmen Herrera sold her first painting at age 89. Now she's 101 and selling her works in the 6-figure range. I find that encouraging.
