    Gawd! I hope not!

Incidentally, Pinky and Blue Boy, and the two drawings -- one of a girl and one of a boy -- which always show up together, and The Age of Innocence and Deaf Boy With Rabbit, are pairs that have been married together forever, even though the painters are different people for each half of the pair.

This particular Pot of Basil was often seen paired with George Frederic Watts' Hope.

LOL! My personal opinion is that I would not mind at all having the originals of any of the first six, but Watts and White I'd prefer to appreciate in a museum!

I think that Isabella is lovely!

Oh, indeed -- Isabella is divine. It's what is in the pot that I don't like the looks of.

And never mind that it isn't shown on the canvas; I have a vivid imagination!

Just like looking at "Hope" for more than a minute gives me scoliosis!

I can certainly understand the scoliosis fright.

Pot of Basil... lovely story (based on a poem by Keats, but the story dates back to the Decameron of Boccaccio.):

Isabella is in love with Lorenzo but betrothed to another. To ensure the advantageous arranged marriage, her brothers murder the hapless Lorenzo. His burial place is mystically revealed to Isabella, who takes her dead lover’s head and buries it in a pot of basil. She slowly pines away as she dotes on the pot, constantly watering it with her tears.

I understand that this site has declared a "zero tolerance to trolls" policy. (but you can't have zero tolerance for the trolls if there are no trolls to have zero tolerance for?) Since I have been deemed that troll, the prudent thing would be to bow out gracelessly.

In an attempt to make everyone happy here, I would like to know what I need to do to delete my account at antiquers.com?

Not sure who has labeled you a troll. While your communication style might rub some the wrong way, I have seen nothing from you that would cause me to call you a troll. I should think that if the moderators had a problem with you being here, you would not be here. You can leave if you want but I don't think you are being run off.

I was sent a form message from a moderator telling me that they do not tolerate trolls and If I continued my behavior, action would be taken. I asked for clarification of that message to pinpoint the trollish behavior and that request has been ignored. Giving a vague ultimatum is tantamount to running someone off, as they are sure to commit the same crime and justify expulsion.

If an admonition for troll-like behavior was sent to you, it should have been sent to others as well. It takes two (sometimes more) to tango.

I think some unfortunate things have been said lately, by more than one person. If you have a disagreement with someone, or someone has a disagreement with you, just move on. Don't feel compelled to respond. There's absolutely nothing to be gained. The only last word to be had is in the 'ignore' button. Reputations are not at stake. There never will be a winner. Participants demean only themselves. Don't take things personally.

And that's not directed solely at lilfont.

Thank you, Izorizent. I couldn't be more disinterested in admonitions given to others or the merits. I respect the mods and am ready to move on.

The last pic to the left on the bottom shelf looks like two dolls in their see through boxes? I guess I need stronger glasses?

Really? This site hasn't been up very long and already someone has been labeled a troll (and she isn't -- rather forthright in what she says, but SO WHAT?), and feels compelled to leave. I am disappointed. :(

I think what we both need, is my husband to take better photos! :hilarious:

I have no idea what those are either. *Might* be two "celebrity" dolls I had, but I thought I had finally gotten rid of those. LOL

In general, if the moderators are concerned about someone's posting style, perhaps a polite message providing a little gentle feedback might be more helpful than an impersonal form message?

    Hi,
Perhaps the mods did NOT send an impersonal form. I can not see these mods doing that. Two I know would not and I hope to believe that the third would not either. Lilfont also posted that she got a slap from the mods. This alone gives me doubt. That is what you got from impersonal beings on ebay NOT here.

Could be, Greg, but hard to know one way or the other at a distance.

Especially online, it's so easy for things to be misunderstood. A post that one person sees as innocuous can offend someone else, a joke can sound like a dig to some people, a question or suggestion can be seen as intrusive by one person and as helpful by the next person.

I even think that some posters on eBay who most people see as trolls, aren't necessarily trying to stir up trouble. Some people mean well but just aren't good at understanding how they come across, whether from upbringing or a neurological problem or whatever.

I always feel conflicted about these things.
