My Great Grandmother crocheted hundreds of outfits for these dolls. They used to sell them at church bazaars to raises funds.

This one looks like a refugee from the Corpse Bride.

Unless she got into Mansons' stash and mixed it with my rocket fuel coffee?

I had totally forgotten my dear grandmother had one of these on her bed with a huge hoop skirt she had crocheted ! I wish I knew what happened to it.

You don't give any measurements of the doll. I had a similar one growing up, called Nurse Nancy. I'd estimate the age to early 60's or so. If it is a larger doll, bigger than 12", I would guess that the original clothing was replaced by some inspired mom. One wouldn't come new with hand crochet clothing.

I just looked again at your post and see the ruler, so it is about 7" tall. I would still date it to the 60's or 70's, it has a nice full head of hair and the moving eyes with hand painted eyelashes. More likely what the other poster said about being a "bed doll", sold in a lot of department and craft stores. The sky is the limit for the style of dresses that were made for these dolls, they were certainly beautiful.
