Hi all -- first post! I have a bunch of chinese/japanese pieces that I know nothing about. This site looks promising!

This vase is 5" tall by 2 1/2" wide at the base.

Let me know if more info is needed.

    Thanks in advance.

I believe this may be a Sake bottle. It may have originally come with 4 to 6 small cups.

Ah never considered that -- I think you're right! Now can that mark on the bottom help narrow things down further?

The mark is Japanese, but I can't read it, and it doesn't matter anyway.

Hi, thanks for the info. Just curious, why doesn't it matter? Can marks be trusted on these types of pieces? Maybe that is what you mean :)

It's so modern that the maker is not important, and I don't think anyone will be looking for it by name. I wouldn't pay to have it shipped. My tight-fisted opinion, only! If you're just curious, that's different.

No problem at all :) I've got a bunch more items to post about -- maybe one of them will turn out to be something good!
