The picture for this is not very good, but it's all I have for now.
It is a 5 inch hig mug made of copper with slightly raised relief decoration, covered outside with coloured enamel rather like the style of early 19th C Bilston enamel boxes depicting 'comical' figures in early 19th C dress. It is contra enamelled inside. I have never seen such an object, wondering if anyone else has. Poor condition, enamel loss at top of handle.

Af - there is quite a lot of repousse enamel work out there, a great deal of it from China, but mostly it is traditional type designs - flowers, dragons, etc. When you can I would love to see some clearer pictures:shy:.

My spidey senses say this is pre-1900 too. How much pre ...... good question. It might be worth checking the V&A website and seeing if they have any similar.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I like it, and hope you will be able to show a clearer photo some time.

The colors remind me of Italian pottery.
